Over To You

Feeling inspired?

On this page we can post things you've sent in!
A song, a video message, a poem, an artwork, anything you've been inspired to make - let's share the creative spirit!

A little Christmas number from Carole (2nd from right) and her band to get us into the mood...

It's a Christmas Song from Matti for our Light in the Darkness Special - enjoy!!

Myles (of Amanda & Myles, our mother & son megawatt motivators from Michigan) gives us Shel Silverstein's poem about the biggest light bulb of them all...

It's a left-field choice from Matti for the Light in the Dark theme - a cheery number from The Rocky Horror Show :)

Poet-in-flight Marta joins the Over To You community with this lovely Christmas song from Puerto Rico - thank you for recording this, Marta!

It's another wonderful performance from Billy for our Light in the Dark winter edition - with more great jokes...

Another entry to light up the night for our Light in the Dark livestream - Geordie anthem Meet Me On The Corner beautifully sung by Ruth :)

Jules sent in this wonderful number for our Light in the Dark livestream - it's so sweet of you, Jules! Thank you - and we're definitely carrying on into 2022 and beyond!

Bonus extra for Noirvember - another song by Tom, sung and played so beautiful by Carolyn - thanks for this song from the heart!

Meanwhile, at the noir end of the bar, Matti is looking for another stout... :))

Are you ready for this? It's the latest production from Julia & Billy's Studios, steeped in noir and with the best jokes - and featuring the most famous noir melody of them all??? Enjoy!!!

Jules' contribution for Noirvember - perfect song, perfect delivery, out of this world solo... Thank you, Jules!!

For Noirvember: Ruth channeling Rita Hayworth with this smokey number from Gilda (1946) - VERY smokey...

Late entry for our Laura Nyro night - Matti excelling himself with 'And When I Die', written by Laura when she was 16 - enjoy!

Another glorious contribution from Billy (& Jules behind the scenes) in Glasgow - a special tribute for our Laura Nyro night :)) Actually, although Billy says it's a tangential link, his choice is spot on - according to her biography, Laura was named after this very tune by her trumpet-playing, movie-going Dad :) Keep watching to the end for the appearance of a miraculous cocktail!

Am I allowed to post something on this page?? The thing is, things are looking a little tricky for tomorrow's livestream - I don't have a piano, and the internet here is patchy. So let's postpone the main feature - Time & Love, the music of Laura Nyro - until I get back home to Totnes!
Meanwhile, here's a little taster from the convent where I'm staying in Cadiz. I'll still aim to post something live at 8pm UK-time tomorrow (24th Oct) - perhaps just one song unaccompanied. Hope you can join me for that, and see you soon for the full show... :)

Jules sings Laura! Fantastic smokey version of 'Buy and Sell' from Julia (feat. ukulele!) for our upcoming Laura Nyro livestream - thank you for this, Jules!

Lovely song from Matti about bridges :) Enjoy & see you tonight!

Julia and Billy (or is it Sam?) have REALLY excelled themselves this time! Take a trip back to the classic movies - complete with a bridge, of course :)

Travel up the Grand River and see the miracle of the Great Marshmallow Bridge! The chicken is so happy not to have to swim over... (Why did the chicken cross the bridge?...) Music 'Los Puentes' by Jorge Drexler. Thanks Amanda and Myles in Michigan for this great production :))

One of our most regular and popular performers, Julia's song for September features a BRIDGE ;))

It was definitely worth waiting for this one - the sassiest cup of coffee you can imagine - thanks Jules!

You say sonata, and I say sonata... Here's Billy's puntastic tribute to the subject of food and music, enjoy!

Another groovy and weathery delight from Jules in Scotland - summer here we come!!!

A second weatherly instalment from Scotland - Billy presenting Chopin, who apparently spent time in Glasgow :) Beautifully played, Billy!

Something beautiful and very weatherly sent in from Scotland by Julia - thank you! Leading us nicely into our Weather Music Livestream (22 July)... More to come, watch this space!

Matti sent in this beautiful lullaby from Germany called La Le Lu - so sweet and relaxing! And that's quite a guitar collection, Matti! :)

Enjoy this amazing night story The Glow Gem sent in by Myles (age 9) from Michigan, USA! Thanks Myles and mum Amanda!

Another classic reworking from Bill in advance of our Night livestreams - keeping positive even in the dark! Includes references to a couple of people on here (heh heh) and some rhymes to make you smile ;))

Night Music awesomeness from Julia - thank you so much for this cool song and a few memories too ;)

Bill sent in this wonderful Scottish journeys song! I've never heard this song before!

Am I allowed to post something on this page? The thing is, tomorrow's livestream is going to be a bit difficult - I'v no piano and internet access is patchy. So I think let's postpone the main feature - Time & Love, the songs of Laura Nyro. I will aim to put something up tomorrow at 8pm UK-time, hopefully live - but maybe just one song, unaccompanied, from somewhere in the old convent where I'm staying. Spain is beautiful! And it's been nice to be here with Laura in mind. So here's a little taste for now, recorded this afternoon; there'll be another taste tomorrow 8pm; and then the full show when I'm back home in Totnes. Thanks for your patience! I hope it will be worth the wait :))

Ruth sent in this recording of a classic Cole Porter tune of wandering and freedom - excellent choice Ruth!

Another lovely video from Julia for our Journeys livestream - or maybe some journeys you can just stay at home for :)

For Journeys, Billy MacFarlane sent in this amazing short film - put together from original footage and archive material by Norrie Pollock, with music (Satie's Gymnopedie No.1) played by Billy himself. Billy calls the film "Think You're Going Somewhere?". Enjoy the ride!

This just in - brilliant rewrite of What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor, ha ha! You can see why Bill's a brilliant Headteacher ;)))

Almost time for our Sea Special, and Tomomi added this performance piece based on Gwyneth Herbert's song Sweeter, from the album The Sea Cabinet - thank you so much for sending this from Tokyo, Tomomi!

Here are three short sea tunes from Carole that will definitely make you smile! No.1 - enjoy!

Sea tune no.2 from Carole - it's that Captain again :)

And sea tune no.3 - you'll know this one :))

Julia takes us swimming!

Ahoy me hearties! Julia shows us her incredible dancing stick man - nimbly dancing to the tune of Capt. Pugwash. Does anyone know any more about such figures?

For our Sea Music special edition, Jeff sent in this recording of his own song about the weird times we're in, Octopus of Equinox. He explains: “Rach and I found this extraordinary creature on the beach at Thurlestone on the Spring Equinox last year. I wrote the song the same day, and the next day the first Lockdown was announced in the UK...”

Bill is back with his own version of Phil the Fluter's Ball, especially for our St Patrick's Night lock-in - I mean lockdown ;) Thank you so much for this, Bill!

Tomomi Kosano sent in this improvised dance piece based on the song Falling Slowly from the film Once. I've been privileged to work with Tomomi in the past and always love how brave and spontaneous she is - thank you for this, Tomomi!

With the St Patrick's Day Lockdown Special coming up on Wednesday, Carole is helping us get in the spirit of things with a selection of Irish tunes. Here she starts with The Road to Kildare and The Tenpenny Bit. It's been ages, Carole - thank you so much for sending these in!

Carole follows that up with one of the most famous Irish melodies of them all...

...before finishing with Drowsy Maggie. Thank you Carole! I know we're all looking forward to when we can play together in person again...

Bill sent in this wonderful video which I picked up just before going live with the Mardi Gras Special - it really put me in a happy mood! Among many talents, Bill (who is my former headteacher) is brilliant at putting new words to songs...
