First of all, thank you to everyone who joined the Noirvember livestream last night! I really loved reading all of your comments and feeling the energy of everyone watching! It was really delightful playing for you. I guess I feel very at home with the Tom Waits repertoire, and the film noir theme, so I could just relax and enjoy sharing it! It made me think about this new phenomenon (artform?) of livestreaming - it can be really powerful and personal, and there's so much still to explore with it. I'm happy to continue with it into the New Year and beyond! Thank you for your support!
Now, I had the idea to make a kind of Advent Calendar of Laura Nyro songs! It was great to be able to celebrate her in the previous livestream - but there's still so much to tell! So, every day from now until 24th/25th Dec, I'll post one of her songs that's special to me... (Not me singing them!! That would be quite a task! An original recording, or possibly a cover.)
Starting today, 1st Dec, with 'December's Boudoir', from the second album 'Eli and the Thirteenth Confession' (1968). What a song!!!! It's one of my absolute favourites. I won't say any more - enjoy!!! https://youtu.be/Jd8NsFjZCHc
Absolutely beautiful Carolyn, thank you !!
Carolyn, that was beautiful! Lovely to hear you sing and play. I hear you are a great TW fan.
Carolyn, your arrangement is so beautiful and unique! My dad used to listen to Crystal Gayle. I think I may have gone to one of her concerts, maybe Dolly Parton too. I definitely remember Kenny Rogers. I was only four or five years old for those.
This song has never sounded as good as tonight—perfect to open December, sometimes jolly, sometimes serene, sometimes wistful—definitely more than one song in there. Thanks for the new piano picture! Still glowing from the great livestream :) That’s me, stranger liking everybody’s comments here. I couldn’t log in on the laptop after cat on keyboard. I can’t find the @
