Back in November I spent a happy weekend immersed in the amazing Ragas Live Festival from New York. It was a fabulous mix of music - with traditional Indian classical musicians stretching their boundaries and all kinds of other genres mixing and complementing. And a lot of it happening absolutely live, through the wonders of zoom etc. This is one set that's been archived on YouTube, the sublime closing performance from the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan (I want to go there!). And Irish music? Who's to say there's not a hint of it in there - fiddle, wooden flute, hand-drum... Anyway if you have an hour or so to immerse yourself, enjoy this!
Just heard someone from Chichester on Gardeners’ Question Time... I like that I’d still be able to say Chichester if my jaw were wired shut
...and Music Voyager episode that starts out in that same neighborhood of Bogotá https://vimeo.com/352494399

One of my favourite festivals in lockdown....movements with moments. I like their choice of octave and the highlights it gives to other instruments...jazz with a twist...simple agreement of parameters and then improv around the core determined notes 🤓. So unusual to my western ears but mesmeric.
Thanks for the revisit x
Listening now. A museum with a shrine room...definitely
My mind went north of India and to my favorite part of the Field Museum in Chicago https://www.flickr.com/photos/ucffool/8061016905/in/photostream/
