Last night as I lay dreaming

As well as going to the actual place that a song may be set, or perhaps where it was written, it's also fun to sing a song that mentions a specific date on that actual date! So, it being on the 23rd of June, it's really a day to be singing or at least listening to the fabulous Irish ballad 'Spancil Hill' (the date comes in around the sixth verse? There are many verses!). This song has travelled with me for many years and popped up in all kinds of places.

PS I did manage to record The Blaydon Races on the 9th of June this year - you can see that here

Pic is from Hope Cove - what a beautiful place, I was lucky enough to visit there this evening. A happy 23rd of June :))

Oh, pretty! I missed the date song on the date. Well, it sounds good now too--the day OF the fair.
