As well as the many cover versions there are of Laura's songs, Laura herself made her own recordings of other people's songs, often soul classics (in fact she recorded a whole album of them, her fifth LP Gonna Take A Miracle). In the studio, Laura would often get her band to blast though some Motown or other uptempo soul music as a warm-up. In live performance, she could give the most beautiful readings of soft soul-inflected love songs like this one. She even speaks some Japanese at the end...
Just walking to work,listening to LN and 'Buy and Sell' came on. I thought 'Oh someone does a good cover of this' I of course was thinking of JULIA and her wonderful singing:))))
Nice! The version that I know is Willie Nelson, another master at making songs his own. It’s nice she uses Japanese. It’s almost as good as the Japanese stage announcements at the end of Love Is the Answer :)
