Another trip to the sea, in preparation for the next livestream on 18th April - theme, 'The Sea'! This time to Plymouth, the Ocean City - how spectacular it is down at the Hoe, and what a fascinating history is there. It still feels salty and seafaring - so what better place to record Tom Waits' song 'Shiver Me Timbers' (preview for the livestream & Truro Folk Session!)? So lucky with the weather today - actually I caught the sun! Chips on the quayside wrapped things up nicely :)
I've just been remembering performing in Dido and Aeneans with BOC. 'Come away fellow sailors' was a fun piece,- you may wish to include it in your next session and Jake could do the violin bit! ;)) In one section with the sailors we did have to sing whilst laying / writhing on the floor .......in typical BOC fashion!!! I think a few audience members were a bit shocked! Great fun.
Amanda, yesterday I spent a wonderful few hours listening to Rhiannon Giddens and co.
Thanks for the intro.
Yes, that does look like a lovely day! Thanks, for sharing the song--the perfect TW for the spot. I think ancestors in at least one line sailed away from Plymouth. I’m 100% sure at least three arrived in North America and called their new home Plymouth. That one I’m remembering right and have already been shown the documentation by the family historian :D Seaside chips: self-salting then? I think I saw some gulls—hope they didn’t want to share.
I've just had to watch it twice more! Beautiful... .Sun, scenery, sounds, happiness and sunkissed you. :))
That was a joy to behold!
